Girls
Purpose
Grow the scholastic girl’s lacrosse program in Guilderland and surrounding areas.
objectives
- Grow the program and sport of lacrosse.
- Build the confidence of our athletes.
- Improve the game IQ and skills of our athletes.
- Increase the number of athletes feeding into scholastic programs.
Philosophy
- This is a recreational program. Prioritize FUN over any Coach’s or Parent’s desire to win.
- Spread load talent on the field during games.
- Ensure players get equal opportunities to play – both time and positions.
- Time – This should not even be a debate in youth sports. ALL kids play equally. The Aspen Institute recommends equal playing time for kids up to age 12 if we want to ensure our kids develop confidence and participate in sports long-term.
- Positions – We advocate positionless lacrosse, especially at this age! We want to build lacrosse players, not position players. With the game evolving to promote more Box and Sixes lacrosse, we have to challenge traditional thinking and put our athletes in position to have the greatest possibility of success. This isn’t exclusive to lacrosse – it is a concept driving the success of athletes in other sports as well.
